SploffVision returns for its third outing this Saturday evening. Expect more choice anime picks, a PSA, and the 1991 political drama Europa by Lars von Trier. Of course the lineup has been curated by our very own Sploff.
8.00 The Outsider
8.10 The Blackwater Gospel
8.20 The Cathedral
8.25 Genius Party Beyond – Toujin Kit
8.40 Future Shorts – Lift
9.05 A Decade of Doctor Who
9.15 Europa (1991)
11.00 Memories 3 – Cannon Fodder
I downloaded Europa on Sploff’s recommendation a few months ago, haven’t got round to seeing it yet.
I can provide a perfect copy (lossless DVD rip) + Extras if you want.
Thanks for once again hosting Sploff Vision Flouncer. Here’s a couple of notes…
The Outsider – I was trying to find something as mad as the Horror Comic piece, but had to settle for this. It’s either funny or kinda sweet, depending on your disposition.
The Black Water Gospel, The Cathedral, and Toujin Kit are animations from across the globe. Not as ‘wtf’ as my previous choices.
Lift – Future Shorts was a slot on Channel Four for up and coming film makers. I came across this one while channel hopping. Given a certain ‘event’ in London’s recent past it strikes me as all the more poignant.
A Decade of Doctor Who – ‘member when new Who was good? This Youtuber does.
Europa – A young idealist travels to Germany after the second world war to work as a sleeping-car conductor for the Zentropa railway network. He just wants to show a little kindness to the German people. Lets see how that goes for him shall we?
Canon Fodder – Another from the Memories anthology, which includes Magnetic Rose. The style of animation is a little different to what you might expect from Japan.
Anyway – hope you will tune in and find something to your liking.
