Join me on Tuesday night for a roasting orange triangle of explosive entertainments, which until then are stored in a Crawford’s Rover Assortment tin.
16:00 – Chuck Jones (audio)
\ The visual comedy might of animator Chuck Jones and the Warner Brothers cartoons is lovingly dissected by superfan Phill Jupitus, on the Rule Of Three podcast – accompanied by a long canyony drive around Wile E. Coyote country.
17:05 – Bad Influence!
\ Andy Crane demonstrates how a Neo Geo can be used as a footspa, while the clever children review Rise Of The Bellends on the CD32.
17:25 – Crosswits
\ More cross-wittery-twattery with Tom O’Connor and his jumper seemingly trapped in the Fortress of Crossword. Expect top-tier celebrity guestsβ¦ somewhere else.
17:55 – FILM: Three Hats For Lisa (1965)
\ Charming bit of feelgood nonsense from the 60s British film industry. Musical comedy starring chirpy Joe Brown, Sid James, and UNA STUBBS! Italian film star Lisa Milan (Sophie Hardy) visits London and wants to add to her collection of hats with some unmistakeably British millinery. The other three take the day off work to help her, and madcap hijinks ensue. Features some lovely location views of that “Look At Life” version of 1960s London.
19:40 – The Smell Of Reeves and Mortimer
\ We go back the start of the pair’s superb first BBC series – these episodes are the long 35 minute edits that were released on BBC Video in the early 90s, and includes Vic and Bob’s ‘picture interference’ introduction.
20:15 – Building Sights
\ Sir Norman Foster blows the concept of this series of architectural vignettes clean off its hinges, by appraising THE BLOODY BOEING 747. I presume he wasn’t pissed at the time.
20:25 – The Thick Of It
\ Leader of the Opposition Nicola Murray is spinning disastrously off of her own axis – the elastic band in Malcom Tucker’s brain snaps and it’s time for her to be removed. A plan is hatched, and also, will she ever get off this fucking train?
21:00 – DOCU-FILM: Woodstock 99 – Peace, Love, and Rage (2021)
\ This has been in playlist for years, so I’m sliding it down the ramp to unburden myself. Detailed and footage-rich documentary of the disastrous 1999 Woodstock festival in New York state. Basically it turned into a horrible BLOODY SHAMBLES. This documentary serves best as a chronological inspection of how the weekend unfolded, however the contributors’ interrogations into the perceived ‘culture’ of ‘people’ at that time are a bit earnest and ‘chew your own face off’. If you’re anything like me, you’ll find it about 24% annoying.
23:00 – Bobby Fingers
\ Web series with special effects supremo and artist Bobby Fingers. Having built a rowing boat out of Jeff Bezos’s face, then thoroughly pounded Fabio’s face with ballistics-gel geese, Bobby seems to hit the big time with a mention on a massivaly-watched US podcast. However, his moment of fame is disappointingly shit, and he constructs a diorama out of sheer bloody revenge.
Bonus gunpowdery fizzings and burnt fingers throughout
