hogTV returns this Thursday at 5PM with another exciting thing full of stuff.
For the main event I’ll be showing that version of Alice in Wonderland (not the Disney animated musical or the Tim Burton one) followed by Alice in Wonderland (neither of the above).
Along with some other fun stuff!
17:00 – Intro / Pre-show
I’ll be starting things off with a William Basinski-esque thing I’m calling The VHS Disintegration Loops (in reverse), whoever figures out first what the degraded VHS tape is will win a special prize.
Followed by some Jim E. Brown music videos.
17:25 – Get a Life S01E18 – The Construction Worker Show
Chris hangs out with the construction workers who are working on his parents house.
17:50 – Review S02E02 – Curing Homosexuality, Mile High Club
Forrest attempts to turn a young gay man straight and finds that having sex on an airplane is surprisingly difficult.
18:15 – Under One Roof S01E12 (featuring Flavor Flav)
Forgotten sitcom from 2008 starring ‘Flavor of Love’ star Flavor Flav and comic actor Kelly Perine. This is the only episode still in existence, the rest were dutifully destroyed by Chuck D.
18:40 – A Hatful of Dreams (1944)
Weird stop-motion animation short. Down-on-his-luck Punchy obtains a magical straw hat from a plucky talking horse to win over Judy.
18:45 – Soundies: starring Three Winter Sisters, The Glenn Miller Modernaires, Andy Mayo and Reg Kehoe and His Marimba Queens (1944?)
A whole lot of dancing, some singing, another horse, and lots of lovely lovely ladies.
19:00 – The Big Dog House (1930)
In this MGM Dogville series short, an all-dog cast play out a story of jealousy, murder and justice thwarted.
I read somewhere that the dogs in this were all extremely well looked-after… I’m not fully convinced, but I’m going with it because this is one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
19:15 – Alice in Wonderland (1933)
Pre-Code fantasy film adapted from the novels by Lewis Carroll.
I ought to have shown this on Halloween. It would give any child nightmares.
20:30 – Alice in Wonderland (1915) [hog-edit]
A shorter, simpler, sped-up version of the thing you just saw, with all the intertitles removed because we all know the story by now, with music by surf-rock quartet turned electronic-duo, Sweet Valley.
20:45 – Possum balls get stuck in the fence ouchy / Guard Dog (2004) / Drunk Pig / The Steve Harvey Stare
A clip from tik tok, a short animation by Bill Plympton, a charming clip of an intoxicated pig and a short by YouTube animator MeatCanyon.
20:55 – The Insanity Artist
A short YouTube documentary on Tehching Hsieh, a Taiwanese-American performance artist who went to extremes for the sake of his art.
21:10 – Francis Bacon and The Brutality of Fact (1985)
In an interview led by friend and art critic, David Sylvester, Mr Bacon opens up about his work and the grotesque and macabre tone of his paintings.
22:10 – KoKo’s Earth Control (1928)
Animated Short from Flesicher Studios’ Out of the Inkwell series, in which KoKo and his dumbass dog casually pull off what Pinky and the Brain couldn’t after countless episodes.
22:20 – Misc.
A hodge-podge of things from my ever-growing folder of crap.
23:00 – Fin
It’s just a fancy way of saying ‘End’.
