evening folks – you’ve probably figured out from the discord that i’m not doing anything tonight. reason being i’m still at work. this last couple of weeks have tied in well with the origin of the OTH name, so i thought i’d amuse myself by telling the story here…
when the newsreel film of the hindenberg disaster happened, it was quite a big deal. considered quite large on the disaster-o-meter, it was complimented by and indeed caused the infamy of the reporter’s voice shouting the words “Oh The Humanity”.
most things in my life either end up happening, or being accidentally avoided by a series of much smaller disasters. Pluralising the initial call and toning down the emphasis of the utterance gave us “oh the humanities”.
in true form when i took a week off from the zeppelin, due to being completely knackered, i’d intended to come back the following week, work sent me to scotland and i left one of the hard drives at home that had stuff on. i get back from scotland, and intending to come back the following week, remember that the skids and spear of destiny are playing, and i’ve got a ticket. it should have been a weekend gig, but for some inexplicable reason someone put it on a thursday night. this week, after many years of a recurring fault with a fire alarm component, they’ve decided to send someone to fix it. tonight. so i’m sat waiting for them to arrive in my office, taking the time to defrost the iceberg in the freezer bit of the fridge in the office and racking up the overtime for doing sod all, with an internet connection so slow, that the component parts of Connie the sprite that AOL used to use made up of pictures of loads of other people who have presumably passed on since, are spinning in their graves or miraculously spawning cyclones in their clumps of ashes.
this sunday, unless we’re sepulchring, i’m going to try and shoehorn some stuff from what would have been the zeppeling back into the evening of odd. I know i’m not around every sunday, but at least for the most part i know what sundays im not around for, and because the drone starts at midday, it’ll finish around 9/10 pm ish.
Stay young,
stay happy,
see you sunday!
