There Laura meets two sisters (Hilary Mason, Clelia Matania) who claim to be in touch with the spirit of the Baxters’ daughter. Laura takes them seriously, but John scoffs until he himself catches a glimpse of what looks like Christine running through the streets of Venice.
23:50 – Closedown
Ah man I just re-watched Don’t Look Now for the first time in years, it gets better with each viewing.
It was shown to us in my first year of middle school by a maverick English teacher that overestimated the intellectual maturity of 10 year olds (the same year he also showed us bits of A Clockwork Orange).
The ending really fucked me up. For years afterwards if I saw a bright red coat I would get the fear.
Donald and Julie are brilliant in this. Roeg’s best film. It’s a masterpiece!
