This week on Meatball TV, there’s somewhat of a change to the regular schedule, as we delve into one of the most notorious movies of all time and its deeply troubled production, with 1996’s The Island of Moreau and the superb retrospective making of documentary detailing the tumultuous making of a financial and critical disaster.

6:00 Nathan For You (series 3, episode 4)

In this episode of the humorous reality show based around helping ailing businesses, Nathan devises a scheme to hire the future football stars of tomorrow by pooling talent from a group of young children. He then devises a scheme to unleash a drunk man loose in an antique store.

6:20 The Fear (episode 5)

After last week’s brief sabbatical, the audience of stupid cunts watch some more short horror films, before opinioning on which film was the best of the bunch, according to their standards as minuscule minded mouthbreathers. Outrage will be expressed!

6:50 FILM: The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)

In this science fiction horror film, adapted from the 1896 novel by H.G. Wells, a United Nations negotiator ends up stranded on a strange island run by the eponymous Dr. Moreau and inhabited by his genetic experiments of human-animal hybrids.

The production of the movie was notoriously difficult, marred by issues with the cast, harsh weather, a skyrocketing budget and the firing of the original director. The details of this disastrous production will be covered in the documentary following the movie.

In this fascinating, insightful and frequently hilarious documentary, the cast and crew look back on and reflect upon the making of one of the worst films ever made and its troubled production.
