the Show #32 – I’m Looking For A Good Time

The Sheepy transmitter is on reduced power at the moment, so here’s a solid evening’s entertainment to warm the cockles of your arse.

Quick ‘n’ dirty listing:

17:00 – Library mix
\ Groovy tunes from the RKM music libary.

17:10 – Beat This! A Hip Hop History
\ BBC Arena documentary from 1984 depicting hip hop culture in New York. Evocative and with very little narration, it lets the footage do the talking.

18:05 – Bad Influence!
\ Video game magazine show ballbags. Andy Crane probably does something unsavoury with an RS-232 connector.

18:25 – Odd One Out
\ More wig-based word game whammery from 1983.

18:55 – Chain Reaction
\ Clive Anderson interviews John Lloyd in the entertaining radio show. Topics such as Blackadder, Douglas Adams and Not The Nine O’Clock News are discussed.

19:25 – It’ll Be Alright Late At Night
\ Denis Norden introduces more quality goofs in 1985, this time with slightly more risqué/mature content (which lent itself to being shown in a later timeslot, and on dirty filthy Channel 4).

20:00 – Building Sights
\ An architectural appraisal of Alexander Fleming House in Southwark, one of Ernő Goldfinger’s creations.

20:10 – The Thick Of It
\ It’s series 4 and Nicola Murray’s party have been ousted. The new coalition government has a childish departmental slap-fight over the launch of a new app scheme for young entrepreneurs.

20:40 – FILM: Escape From Alcatraz (1979)
\ Quality prison-break action based on a true story, starring Clint Eastwood. Proper BBC1 late film business.

22:40 – Dave Allen – In Search of the Great English Eccentric
\ Wonderful documentary made for ATV in 1974. Comedian Dave Allen does a brilliant job of investigating and interviewing that most dubious of creatures, ‘Great British eccentrics’. Features aceness from Ivor Cutler.

Timings and content due to jiggle about.
