A new year brings with it some changes – a film dropped, a series or two added – a Port Landia’d, a Ray Stung, a Rubicon cross’d, and a Death Bore’d. (with some repeats/additions for those that missed last week’s output)

18:15 – Ultraman Episode 9 – Operation Electric Stone Fire
The team get an electric… stone… fire? And then need to get Ultraman for some reason. Kaiju battle ensues.

18:41 – Pee-wee’s Playhouse Season 1 Episode 10 – The Cowboy and the Cowntess
Miss Yvonne invites Cowboy Curtis on a date. But Curtis doesn’t know how to act on a date, so Pee-wee and Cowntess help him prepare.

19:17 – Cry Wolfe Season 1 Episode 12 – You Will Meet A Tall Dark Liar
As a psychic, the great Zora knows all and sees all. Brian doesn’t. SHENANIGANS!

19:38 – Portlandia Season 1 Episode 2 – A Song for Portland
The Mayor of Portland (played by Dale Cooper) meets with Fred and Carrie, who are commissioned to write a theme song for the city. Fred and Carrie hire a maid only to discover that she is their favorite singer Aimee Mann. Fred and Carrie must search the town when the mayor goes missing.

20:04 – Stingray (not that one) Feature Length Pilot
An attractive district attorney asks Ray for help in dealing with a Mexican crime lord responsible for kidnapping and brainwashing several prominent people. He helps her, and then some.

21:46 – Rubicon Episode 1 – Gone in the Teeth
Rubicon is an American conspiracy thriller television series created by Jason Horwitch and produced by Henry Bromell that was broadcast on the AMC television network in 2010, and was them summarily axed to make way for The Wanking Dead. Which did actually have a good episode: the first 99% of the very first one. Anyway…

Intelligence analyst Will Travers (James Badge Dale) suffers a shocking tragedy when his father-in law and mentor, David Hadas, is killed in a train accident. Will believes that Hadas was murdered which leads him to clues in a mysterious conspiracy. While investigating, he gets promoted to team leader – the position previously held by David. Katherine Rhumor (Miranda Richardson) questions the unexpected suicide of her billionaire husband, Tom, who killed himself after finding a four-leaf clover in his daily newspaper.


22:38 – Duckman: Private Duck/Family Man Season 1 Episode 1 – I, Duckman
Feeling underappreciated by his family, Duckman hunts down the man mailing him bombs thinking he’s the only one who cares.
This episode was dedicated to Frank Zappa, who died three months before this episode’s airing.


23:07 The Venture Bros. Season 3 Episode 1 – Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny
Answers never spoken to questions never asked! All will be revealed! Or will it? The Monarch and Dr Mrs The Monarch (née Girlfriend) are an newly married couple, but as you might imagine, married life within The Guild of Calamitous Intent is far from blissful.


23:33 – Space Ghost Coast to Coast Season 1 Episode 11 – Gum, Disease
Space Ghost interviews Danny Bonaduce and Branford Marsalis. Moltar is sick.

23:46 – He And She Episode 10 – He And She Vs. Him
Suffering from writer’s block, Dick is subsequently sued for plagiarism by a comic book rival, who also happens to be a former boyfriend of Paula’s.

00:15 – Bored to Death Season 1 Episode 2 – The Alanon Case
While attempting to win back Suzanne, Jonathan is hired to shadow a man to uncover the truth of his fidelity.

00:48 – The Ray Bradbury Theater Season 2 Episode 2 – The Screaming Woman
While playing in a seemingly deserted part of the local forest, little girl hears a woman screaming. Is she imagining it? Is it a ghost? No one believes her so she takes the matter into her own hands. Features Ray Bradbury in a cameo. Again.
