Under the mountain is an 80s NZ children’s drama serias based on the book by Maurice Gee. the synopsis mentioned aliens and slug monsters, my brain went “say no more fam”. dunno if it got shown over here but it replaces Empty as that didn’t (as far as i know) get a series 2.
