In ‘The Messiah on Mott Street’, an impoverished, seriously ill man who desperately wants to live so his orphaned grandson won’t be raised in a foster home, awaits a visit from the Messiah to come to him and restore his health, and hopes his prodigal brother will make good on an old debt.

In the second tale, ‘The Painted Mirror’, a thrift shop owner is being pushed aside by a new controlling partner who wishes to modernize the fusty old man’s store.
