Feature Presentation #1

Tod Browning’s Freaks (1932)

In this highly controversial film, which more or less killed director Tod Browning’s career, we follow a circus of the titular “freaks”, but when a conniving trapeze artist conspires to do harm to one of the group, they in turn conspire to wreak their just revenge.

“Only a sicko would enjoy this egregiously revolting film. As a normal person, it is my job, as it is any normal person’s job, to stand up for and speak out on the behalf of the exploitation of lesser people. This film ought to have remained banned. It disgusted my sensibilities.” ~ Percival Lebb (Rock, Shock & Drop magazine)

Feature Presentation #2

Serial Mom (1994)

Kathleen Turner stars as the eponymous ‘Serial Mom’ in this dark comedy from John Waters (Pink Flamingos), whom lives a double life; that of a sweet white picket fence Mother and that of a cold blooded killer, in this tale of murder pokers and crank phone calls.

“If John Waters had directed Serial Mom prior to directing Pink Flamingos, then Divine may have been spared the indignity of consuming literal dog feaces on camera. Waters could have simply had Divine eat the celluloid of this film instead. For I certainly can’t think of a single other film which is more vile and intrinsically s**t than Serial Mom.” ~ Percival Lebb (Rock, Shock & Drop magazine)
