9:25 FILM: Lakeview Terrace (2008)

In this cheeseball thriller from director Neil LaBute, an interracial newlywed couple named Chris and Lisa (played by Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington), move into their first home together, located within Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles. However, racial hatred and harassment soon reveal themselves due to their LAPD neighbour (played by Samuel L. Jackson) and his disapproval of the couple’s interracial relationship.

“In its overall shape and message, Lakeview Terrace is a conventional suspense thriller, but the details kick it up a notch… the fun of Lakeview Terrace is not in what happens but in how it happens.”
~ Mick LaSalle (San Francisco Chronicle)

“A boilerplate movie which resides within the realm of absurd fiction. If this ridiculous flick is to be believed, then police officers would be a threat to the local community, instead of the upstanding protectors of justice and security which they are. A corrupt police officer? I’ve seen far less far-fetched premises in a galaxy far, far away.”
~ Percival Lebb (Rock, Shock and Drop Magazine)
