18:34 – The Doombolt Chase E02/06 – Escape to Danger – a naval-themed British science fiction/action television series aimed at a teenage audience, written by Don Houghton, whose writing credits include DW: Inferno, DW: The Mind of Evil, Dracula A.D. 1972, and half of Sapphire & Steel Assignment Five (“Doctor McDee Must Die”). It stars Peter Vaughan, Frederick Jaeger, Donald Burton and Ewen Solon, with appearances by John Woodnutt and Simon MacCorkindale. This week, the three friends escape their pursuers, sail through a naval minefield, and encounter a mysterious unmanned ship. A house in a fishing village is also deserted – but the man they seek has left a clue in code. First broadcast on Sun 19th Mar 1978 by ITV.

19:10 – Star Trek (The Original Series) S03E24 – Turnabout Intruder – LAST EVER EPISODE – Captain Kirk’s insane ex-lover Dr. Janice Lester forcibly switches bodies with him in order to take command of the Enterprise. First broadcast on Tue 3rd Jun 1969 by NBC, over two months after the previous episode, due to its planned slot (28th Mar) being pre-empted by a special report on the death of President Eisenhower, who’d died earlier that day. Nichelle Nichols is absent from this episode; the position of Communications Officer was played by Barbara Baldavin who had previously appeared in two first-season episodes of the show, “Balance of Terror” and “Shore Leave”. Also, William Shatner’s sweaty look isn’t all makeup; he was seriously ill with flu throughout the filming of this episode, found it an immense struggle, and barely remembers anything of filming it at all. Meanwhile the cast & crew were only told of the series’ cancellation while this episode was being filmed.
20:00 – Van der Valk S05E02 – Proof of Life – In the sixth of seven two-hour Inspector Morse style specials, Michael Tromp and his son Rudi are kidnapped. Is his young wife – allegedly on a shopping trip in Germany – involved? First broadcast on Wed 12th Feb 1992 by ITV. With Paul Freeman, Stephen “Marvin” Moore, Maggie Steed, Ralph Brown, Natasha Pyne, and Edward “Think once… think twice… think BIKE!!!” Judd in his last-ever role as Alfred Verhoeven. Also features a brief appearance by Sonia Graham: the Mum in both Escape Into Night and The Changes; senior prison officer Martha Parish in Within These Walls; Evgenia in London’s Burning… and finally, John Burgess, who played the warden’s husband Dougie Webber in Together, appears as a printer.

22:58 – Thriller S01E05 – The Colour of Blood (USA title: The Carnation Killer) – a British television anthology series, made by ATV for the ITV network and originally broadcast in the UK from 1973 to 1976. As the title suggests, each story is a thriller of some variety, from tales of the supernatural to down-to-earth whodunits. The series was created by Brian Clemens (of The Avengers, The Professionals, and many others fame), who also scripted the majority of the episodes and story-lined every installment. This week, a serial killer escapes in transit to the asylum to which he has been confined. He picks a seemingly innocent woman as his next victim, but soon it looks like she’s not quite as innocent as he thought. This episode stars Norman Eshley, Katherine Schofield, Derek Smith, Garrick Hagon, and features Geoffrey “Bishop” Chater and an uncredited John Scott Martin as a porter. First broadcast on Sat 12th May 1973 by ITV.
