SploffVision IV

Join us on Saturday for another of Sploff’s curated evenings! If there’s nothing else happening before I’ll start off around 4pm with some traditional Saturday offerings, but the main event will start at 8pm with some fascinating footage from the Isle of Sheppey – the heart of Noddy country – including a look at the famous scorpions of Sheerness Docks. Also making an appearance will be some anime picks, vintage PSAs and the 2013 documentary film Finding Vivian Maier.

Thanks again Flouncer for hosting this.

I’ve thrown in some YouTube bits featuring the Isle of Sheppey because I consider it to be my spiritual home, even tho I’ve not lived there a good long while now… I wonder if other streamers could do the same… might be fun?

Cindy Goes to a Party is a sort of follow up to The Outsider. Now that you have been accepted into the collective OBEY THE RULES!! Curious Alice is someone (on drugs?) thinking that Lewis Caroll’s books would make a good backdrop for an anti-drugs message. Was he right? Does anyone care?

Children, Robot Carnival and Control Bear are three short animations ranging from weirdly grim to whimsical.

Someone who knew I liked photography gave me a copy of Finding Vivian Maier – A man buys a box of negatives at auction, and the rest is history.

Star Wars Minus Star Wars is exactly that – put together by the fella behind the Brows Held High blog.

The Hide takes place in a shed… with a few exterior shots taken on… yes! The Isle of Sheppey! Thick of It fans will recognize one of the main actors in this.

And to wind down we have..

Welcome to the NHK. The NHK is Japan’s equivalent to the BBC fact fans. This is the first ep of a TV animation telling the story of a Japanese CABber, and the girl who seeks to cure him of this debilitating illness, as he stumbles down a series of (sometimes dodgy) rabbit holes. It has a contemporary setting, but a lot of internal monologue leading to some ‘strange’ imagery. Please stick with it as the closing credits are something else.

Anyway. Hope y’all find something to enjoy here. S’Ploff out.
