    It took an age to even wheel Paul out to the Dog and Duck, but now he’s there, it’s embarrassing him jumping from arrow to arrow as if these little stickers on the carpet ceased the virus outright.

    Paul hops right up to the bar with, it must be said, a graceful sense of balance.

    “I’ll have a-“
    “Nothing pal. YOU’RE clearly tripping ya tits off. OUT.”

    Out in the beer garden, Paul’s brow a-furrows.

    “What is it?” asks Careful Colin in his trademark trepidation.

    “Looks like rain,” Paul explains, his nose in Bing Maps, hauling on his winter coat, “somewhere near Kilimanjaro. Best not chance it.”
