Throwback-to-Back (27.05.26)

As the summer starts to heat up, let’s cool out with a couple of evenings of retro TV.

We kick off at four with a vintage Jobfinder, and witchy dreamgirl Toni Arthur turns up in some schools programming. A CITV double of Allsorts and Children’s Ward follows, then we finally return to Home and Away. Our soapy sojourn continues with The Bill, then Jimmy’s getting mixed up with drucks in Brookside.

At 8 we switch over to the BBC and join Simon Mayo on TOTP to see what dross was stinking out the charts in the summer of ’89. Nick Ross emerges to scare the shit out of us in Crimewatch UK, then Panorama investigates whether the Argies might be able to blow us all to kingdom come with their Condor missiles. After a quick update, Electric Avenue looks into travel automation in Airbus aircraft and the Docklands Light Railway. We finish off with another look into the mysteries of quantum mechanics with the bods at the Open University.
