Thursday Throwback (23.07.20)

This week’s show will be vaguely centred around 1996. The early part of the show features and extensive ITV schools block.

After our usual shows, Louis will be spending some time with eccentric boxer Chris Eubank. Trevor McDonald will bring us News at Ten, then we’ll return to Denton as Frost endeavours to crack another case. Capping off the evening is an edition of Channel 4’s Equinox covering the catastrophic 1957 Windscale reactor fire.

If that Windscale documentary is the one I think it is, it’s absolutely superb… and quite chilling. I know I watched one around that time that left a huge impression; I hope this is the same one (or maybe an equally good different one!).

Also, in the Star Trek episode, look out for Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) doing her little goodbye wave to the fans near the end, as Picard & Crusher leave the cargo bay; this was the last episode she filmed (but not the last she appeared in).

Ah thanks for that Sheepy; we’ll have to keep an eye out for Tasha’s wave! I haven’t watched the Windscale doc all the way through but it looks fascinating – lots of great archive footage and interviews with people who were involved in the disaster. Looking forward to that. 🙂
