We start off with a bit of schools programming, culminating in a few short films about life in the London borough of Southall. We then move onto our usual shows, resolving the cliffhanger in Neighbours! Louis meets a hypnotist and a pick-up artist in Weird Weekends, then we have a Play For Today – an adaptation of David Leland’s Psy-Warriors. After this there will be a a few items – a Newsnight report and a couple of documentaries – about civil unrest in the Toxteth area of Liverpool in the 1980s. We then finish off with the third episode of Micro Live into a closedown.

hogTV returns this Thursday with a special double-bill feature – The Circus (1928) and Steamboat Bill, Jr. (1928) – respectively starring a couple of funny fellows you might have heard of, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.

The Circus was produced between Chaplin’s better known films, The Goldrush (1925) and City Lights (1931). It’s not as ambitious as those aforementioned ‘classics’ and considerably shorter too, but nevertheless it’s an enjoyable little romp.

Steamboat Bill, Jr on the other hand is generally considered to be one of Keaton’s masterpieces, along side Sherlock Jr (1924) and The General (1926), however out of these it is probably his least well known, despite arguably containing some of the most iconic set-pieces.

And if none of this tickles your fancy, there’ll be some of the usual hogTV rubbish too.
