Monday night’s series of small disasters courtesty of the team behind “oh the humanities” – this week, in episode 2 of Knights of God, while the civil war has been declared over, pockets of resistance in Wales are standing firm. With his father now part of the force, Llewellyn is transported to the re-education centre. In Gangsters, Dermot’s links to the IRA have led to a not so chance meeting between John Kline and one of their representatives. Will Kline live to fight another day or is his number up? in Fresh Eggs, our mild mannered couple from Auckland turned accidental double murderers continue to try and have a quiet rural life. The Cult sees the thrown together group of investigators struggle to work together and infiltrate the compound to reclaim their loved ones from their new lives. We take another trip around the city of london’s stranger side with Urban Gothic, and acquaint ourselves with Old Nick. Steve Unger was towed away on his first night living in his car – still unable to adjust to his post prison life and status, things don’t seem to be able to get any worse for him. there are about 12 episodes left though,…
We have a new show this week – Vic Reeves Big Night Out will be replacing The Brittas Empire (which will probably return at some point). When that’s finished we’ll move onto The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer! Tonight’s films feature some real bad bastards with massive guns: Death Wish (1974) by friend of lesbians Michael Winner, and Don Siegel’s Dirty Harry (1971).

Today I’ll be doing a special stream featuring a line-up curated by our very own Sploff. His section will start at 8.30; before that we’ll have some documentaries and a bit of terrible sci-fi with the feature length first episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation – Encounter at Farpoint (starting at 7pm).
Sploff’s segment will consist of the following things (listed with his descriptions):
Elbowing Paul Driessen 1979
Caught this on C4’s World of Animation in the early 80s and never forgot it.
GurneySlade
Episode 2 ( 1 and 4 have been shown elsewhere on CABTV.)
Doodle Film
Another animation I saw on t’telly as a nipper. God bless you internets.
Fallen Angels (1996)
Not the Hong Kong movie by Wong Kar-wai. This is an altogether different Fallen Angels
Confidential File Horror Comic Books
American propaganda film (1950s??) about the evils of comic books. Includes horrific re-enactments
COME TO VENUS MELANCHOLY (1997)
No buget adaption of a short science fiction story by Thomas M Disch
Magnetic Rose
Anime from the lads that brought you Akira.…
Join the stream Wednesday 05/02/20 for TV shows, a movie and the usual chat.
There’s something of a special edition of Meatball TV today. I’ve decided to demonstrate the power of editing, that is to say just how much of a difference an edit here and an edit there can make within a final presentation of a film. In order to demonstrate this, I shall be playing my fan edit of the Kevin Smith film Tusk, which transforms the film into a two hander short film, with numerous soundtrack changes and cuts to the general narrative. This will then be followed by a commentary explaining the changes which have been made and the thought processes behind them.

Amidst all the commotion last week, I decided to postpone the Funbucket and do something a bit different. So, this is the show that should have been broadcast last time. Blade Runner will conclude our Philip K. Dick season. Before that, I will be showing a BBC Arena documentary about Dick’s work.
The Brittas Empire reaches its series 4 finale, marking the end of the involvement of the original writers. I think this might be a good point to retire it and put something a bit different in that slot. I’m thinking of doing some Reeves and Mortimer in its place, though I haven’t decided what just yet.
