It stars Christopher Strauli as Norman, a rather naive middle-class man who is admitted to a hospital ward and finds that he is sharing it with a working-class layabout called Figgis (James Bolam) and an upper-class hypochondriac called Archie (Peter Bowles). All three of them cause headaches for the hospital staff, led by Richard Wilson with Derrick Branche. This week, when the hospital vicar comes to discuss Norman’s wedding, agnostic Figgis gets into a religious argument but ultimately fears for his soul, because he has not been christened and so he agrees to go ahead with the ceremony. This turns him into a zealous religious missionary – until he hears a confession from Glover, which drastically alters his charitable outlook. right then… the last night of me being wired up to the machines tonight, with the current hiatus of regular saturday programming, i thought for one week only i’d roll all 3 strands of stuff into one handy saturday shaped bonanza.

for anyone who’s been following along the write ups or the programming, we’re currently seeing the local memphis wrestling programme getting invaded by the WWF.

on WWF TV, Jerry Lawler has turned up as the “bastard commentator” and general gobby heel wrestler, and harvey wippleman has been kicking off with WWF ring announcer Howard Finkel.

here in the USWA, Jerry Lawler can do no wrong – he’s the face of memphis and has been for years. Him and Jeff Jarrett as the main good guys have been feuding with Brian Christopher (Lawler’s son IRL – not referenced here). Brian’s been hanging round with the heel contingent and bringking in various WWF stars to try and get one over on Jarrett and Lawler. So far we’ve had Doink the Clown covering the floor in banana peels for Lawler to slip on,…

Damo is off this week having shampoo squirted into his eyes or something, so I’m filling in with some gaming action! Hedge and K should be around for Red Dead Online to do some trader role stuff (and no doubt some badass desperado mischief thrown in). If anyone else wants to get involved they are welcome to: Rocket League, Golf With Your Friends, GTA etc. are all on the cards and I’d be happy to try and accommodate any suggestions! The stream will start at 4pm with some Ceefax music and the action should begin an hour or two later.
