Things can only get better this week, with a 1997 themed stream charting the run-up to that year’s general election. We’ll start off with a bit of Ceefax as usual, before moving onto some BBC and ITV schools and childrens programming. The evening lineup will feature our usual shows plus a Have I Got News For You election special (you won’t believe who’s on Ian’s team), followed by the Nine O’Clock News. next week as some series have finished, its film time: and again i have two options for you to chose from:

The Gladiators (aka the peace game) the third in the peter watkins trilogy i managed to group together. a dystopian war game between nations and a social commentary on totalitarianism. so nothing out of the ordinary for him then.

or

Funbucket 52 (24.07.20)

I know I said last week that I was going to retire the film double bills, but I’ve decided to do another one or two before I draw a line under them and revamp the TV block. A while back I had the idea of doing a Robin Williams double bill consisting of one comedy and one drama, so I’ve decided to go for that this week. At 9.15pm we’ll start off with Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), which has a superb soundtrack! One Hour Photo (2002), a tense thriller featuring a truly creepy performance from Williams, will conclude the evening.

Also, this week’s music show will be starting slightly early to accomodate a long background railway journey – to see the beginning you’ll need to turn up around 3.45pm.

Edit: I’ve decided to postpone Cowboy Bebop this week: the next session is the first of a two parter, so I’ll show both parts next week. It’ll probably work better that way, and this week’s show was running a bit late anyway.

10:45 The Greasy Strangler (2016)

Feature Presentation

The Greasy Strangler (2016)

An independent film which tends to divide opinion straight down the middle; a Marmite movie, if you will. The narrative focuses on a father and son who… uh… well, it’s quite difficult to provide a reasonable synopsis for this strange and off-kilter film but suffice to say that you can expect a veritable vat of grease and a strangler. Also, lots of naked arses.

“There’s not enough bleach in the world to scrub my eyes after being subjected to this horrendous film of sickening debauchery. It makes ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ and ‘The Human Centipede’ look like a Sunday tea party with the Waltons.” ~ Percival Lebb (Rock,…

Sploff Vision VIII

Salute! It’s time for another Sploff TV, commencing 7PM on July 25th.

If you arrive 20 minutes early you can enjoy part two of the space rock opera Galactic Nightmare. A wizened old ‘immortal’ has arrived on the scene.

The show starts proper with the animation The Music Scene, followed by a short history of Sheppey’s Light Railway system, and another study on those 1950s American young people called The Snob. Have your copybooks ready.

Ever wondered how someone can die alone in a busy city and not be discovered for three years.? If so, Dreams of a Life is the documentary for you.

The two Alans next… first off Alan Moore takes us on a tour of his beloved Northampton in Don’t Let Me Die in Black and White, second off a classic Alan Bennett sketch: Take a Pew.

Tonight’s animated movie is Laputa Castle in the Sky, a classic from Studio Ghibli. And the show closes with episode four of Welcome to the NHK...…
