17:35 – Sheepy’s opening caption and music.

17:40 – Thames TV morning start-up music.

17:45 – Only When I Laugh – S01E01 – A Bed with a View – A sitcom made by Yorkshire Television for ITV, written by Eric Chappell (Rising Damp, Home to Roost). It stars Christopher Strauli as Norman, a rather naive middle-class man who is admitted to a hospital ward and finds that he is sharing it with a working-class layabout called Figgis (James Bolam) and an upper-class hypochondriac called Archie (Peter Bowles). All three of them cause headaches for the hospital staff, led by Richard Wilson with Derrick Branche. This week, in the first-ever episode, Norman arrives at the ward and is given the bed next to the window. A game of musical beds ensues as Figgis and Archie want it too. First broadcast on 29th Oct 1979 by ITV. Am rerunning this for one of our now-regular viewers who missed it first time round (just catching the last 2 or 3 episodes) and would like to see it all.

Thursday Throwback (06.07.23)

The Throwback returns for another night of retro TV goodness!

We kick off at 4pm with Jobfinder in an attempt to get those filthy dole-bludgers on their bikes, however, any stragglers who remain at home will be rewarded with some Schools programming and an episode of Dramarama starring Gary Oldman. After this we move into soapier territory with Home and Away, The Bill and Eastenders. The arrival of a new senior staff member ruffles some feathers at Blackwall in London’s Burning, which precedes the Nine O’Clock News. Crimewatch File looks at the notorious railway murders, then World in Action tackles the question of whether or not it’s right to bash the fash. We wrap things up, as usual, with Electric Avenue, the Open University and a closedown.

OTH Mini-Drone

So… we moved the goth night at the pub to fridays last month, and after everything had been put in place, we remembered that Siouxie was playing in the local area on July’s scheduled date. so, i’m not around thursday. hence the mini drone is being sent up again instead of the zeppelin.

This time is slightly different as we’re capping off a couple of series as well as continuing some others.

This week, we say goodbye (again) to Jupiter Moon with episodes 149 and 150, we leave Limetown with a double bill of episodes 9 and 10, we have our usual Prisoner Cell Block H double feature, and another edition of the american version of Holey Moley. This is episode 8 of 10 of the USA Holey Moley, then things kick up a notch courtesy of our friends down under.

it all kicks off at 7pm on wednesday.

17:35 – Sheepy’s opening caption and music.

17:40 – Thames TV morning start-up music.

17:45 – Only When I Laugh – S04E07 – The Reunion – A sitcom made by Yorkshire Television for ITV, written by Eric Chappell (Rising Damp, Home to Roost). This week, in the last-ever episode, the patients are discharged on the same day – somewhat reluctantly given their lengths of stay – and decide to have a reunion the same evening in a restaurant. By chance Dr Thorpe is there with Hilary, who is emphatically not his wife, and when Thorpe goes to make a phone call, Glover, seeing her alone, moves in… First broadcast on Thu 16th Dec 1982 by ITV.

ok then folks – content warning time again:

  • Byker Grove – the series is cursed. im killing it after tonight. it might cut off early. if it does i’ll clag a few more music videos in to make up for it before we get to the main schedule
  • Dr Terrible’s House of Horrible – it’s the last one
  • Chucklevision – existential dread when the clever dialogue joke happens
  • Ship to Shore – the kids are arseholes, but the guard bloke is a bigger one.
  • Beavis and Butthead – office work
  • New Wave Theatre – nothing like this exists now. you have to deal with that too
  • The Story of Pop Radio – NEOL & potentially personas non-gratas from before yewtree
  • Strange Paradise – still no Quito
  • Jupiter Moon – the writers gave up at this point
  • Holey Moley – it’s still the sanitised american version. not long now though
  • Australian Gladiators – desolation of what appears to be a closed set pilot. One off. No Fiji adverts this time
  • Limetown – it’s definitely getting weird.…
